Terms of use
Using windowsoshawa.com, or sending a request through it, means agreeing to these terms. They explain what Windows Oshawa does and, just as usefully, what it doesn't. This draft is being reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

What the service is: free referrals to independent contractors
Windows Oshawa refers window, door and glass jobs in Oshawa and the rest of Durham, free of charge. Homeowners, landlords, property managers and shopkeepers describe a job, and we hand it to an independent contractor who handles that type of work in that area. You pay us nothing. Contractors may pay us a referral fee, and that arrangement gives us no role in your deal with them.
Windows Oshawa is not a glazier or a contractor. Nobody from Windows Oshawa inspects, measures, prices, supplies or fits anything, or comes to your property.
Quotes, contracts, permits and warranties are between you and the contractor
Once a contractor has your request, the job is theirs to quote and yours to accept or turn down.
- The quote is the contractor's: price, scope, materials and dates. Ask for it in writing and read what it includes, for instance whether hauling away the old glass is part of it.
- The contract is between you and the contractor. We don't sign it and can't change it. Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 governs estimates, written agreements and contracts made in your home, and the province's guide to home service contracts describes your rights. Those rights come from the Act and your contract, not from us.
- Licences and insurance are the contractor's to hold and show you. Ontario has no general licence for renovation contractors, and certification in the glazing trade is voluntary (Skilled Trades Ontario), so ask about insurance and similar jobs they've done.
- Permits are for you and the contractor to sort out. Oshawa waives the permit for a same-size window or door replacement on houses only; for an apartment, condo or storefront, check with the City before work starts. Whitby, Clarington and the other Durham municipalities run their own permit offices, and a condo may need the board's approval.
- Warranties come from the contractor and the manufacturer, never from us. Find out what's covered and who to call, and file the paperwork.
We check on requests that go quiet, and if a contractor stops answering about a quote or a warranty, we'll chase them. We can't promise that a contractor is free, that work happens by a certain date or how it turns out, and we don't oversee anyone's work.
Programs and rules we mention
Our pages describe common problems, by-laws and programs in general terms, not as advice about your particular property. A mention of the City's vandalism fund for storefronts, a heritage grant or a provincial rebate is for information and doesn't mean you or your job qualify. Each program's administrators make that call, and budgets and criteria change.
Acceptable use and content you upload (photos)
Only ask for work on property that's yours, that you manage, or that the owner has cleared you to arrange, and describe the job honestly. Upload only photos and files you have the right to share, with nothing unlawful and no one else's private details. Uploading lets us keep the files and send them to the contractor matched to your job. Requests that abuse the service may be declined or deleted.
Liability limits, governing law (Ontario) and changes
Where the law allows it, Windows Oshawa accepts no liability for a contractor's acts or omissions, including their prices, products, timing and workmanship, or for any loss from an agreement you make with them. We run the site without a guarantee that it will be up at all times or free of mistakes. Consumer rights under Ontario law that can't be waived are unaffected.
These terms fall under Ontario law and the federal laws of Canada in force there. We may revise them, and whatever version is posted here, with its date, is current. See the privacy policy for how we treat what you send, how it works for the referral step by step, and the contact page for questions. Ready to go? Request a quote.
